Shane Casey is a sustainability professional specializing in transit-oriented development and urban resilience. As a Masters of the Environment graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder, Casey focuses on building livable and affordable communities where daily needs can be safely accessed through walking, biking, or public transit. Casey's professional experience spans various sectors of sustainability and community development. As a Graduate Student Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder, he managed programming and events for the Urban Resilience & Sustainability specialization. He also edited and published "The Sustainable City" podcast, featuring top sustainability experts and reaching hundreds of listeners monthly. In collaboration with the Boulder County Housing Authority, Casey consulted on resilience and engagement strategies for disaster-affected communities. His work involved researching national best practices in affordable housing and wildfire resilience, as well as developing GIS layers and publishing an ArcGIS StoryMap to communicate key findings. Casey's commitment to system level sustainability change extends to his role as a Publications Weaver for the Transformations Community in Boulder. He analyzed data, prepared reports, and co-published research on systems change education practices. Additionally, he played a key role in organizing the sixth annual Transformations Community Conference in 2023, which brought together over 400 speakers and 700 attendees across four global locations. With a background in Physics-Environmental Studies from Whitman College in 2019, Casey brings a unique perspective to his work in urban sustainability.
