Facundo N., a learner in Argentina, has known since he was 10 years old that he wanted to do something with computers. To figure out exactly what, his mother encouraged him to enroll in a technical high school (EEST No. 7 José Hernández) in Buenos Aires, where he found a particular passion for programming. He’ll soon graduate with his high school diploma in that concentration.
In addition to attending his regular classes, Facundo took proactive steps to fortify his skills. “I enjoyed challenging myself and helping classmates, which not only strengthened my own learning but also made me realize how much I enjoy technology,” Facundo explained. “This passion naturally led me to continuous learning opportunities like Coursera.”
While in school, Facundo completed the Meta Front-End Developer Professional Certificate to expand his knowledge of software development. He went from understanding the basics of languages like JavaScript to gaining more advanced knowledge in React. “The program gave me an extra edge that was noticeable in class,” Facundo shared. “Even my teachers congratulated me for the progress I made.”
What he learned had an immediate impact.* He applied his new React abilities to an internship he was completing at the time, leading tasks on a project that used the popular library. Facundo spoke with Coursera about how he balanced all of that learning, how his skill set grew stronger, and what he’s aiming to do after high school.
I always enjoyed the practical and collaborative aspects of learning in school, especially during technical workshops where I could build projects and solve problems. I also liked helping my classmates, which reinforced my technical understanding.
The main challenge was keeping up with advanced topics when I wanted to go beyond what was taught in class. I was always eager to push my limits, even if it felt difficult.
The flexibility and accessibility. I could learn anytime, from any device, which allowed me to organize my day better and make progress even if I only had a few minutes available. I also appreciated the high-quality content, with instructors who explained concepts clearly and connected them to real-world applications.

I strengthened my foundation in HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript, while also learning React and UX/UI fundamentals. These skills allowed me to build projects like my personal portfolio and contribute more effectively in internships.
By reminding myself of my long-term goal: to become a professional developer and stand out in both school and job opportunities. Coursera’s format helped me stay consistent. I could dedicate short moments each day, fitting lessons around schoolwork and other activities. This routine, along with applying what I learned right away, kept me motivated.
Balancing school, internships, and Coursera at the same time. But the flexibility of the platform helped me overcome this.
It not only gave me the technical skills I needed to feel more confident and competitive, but it also improved my ability to understand my school classes more deeply and succeed in internships.
During one internship, I had to work on a project using React. Thanks to what I learned in the Meta program, I was able to take the lead on certain tasks and even help guide others. That was the moment I realized how much I had grown—the knowledge wasn’t just theory anymore, it was making a real difference in my work.
How global the experience feels! Once I saw a clip of someone from Google on TikTok, and later I took a Coursera course with that same person. It was a funny and inspiring moment that reminded me how small and connected the world can be through learning.

My plan is to finish high school and continue building my career as a front-end developer while exploring full-stack opportunities. I want to keep learning and eventually work on innovative projects that combine technology and creativity.
