    Identify firm and country-level economic factors that impact business decisions, develop an analytical framework using statistical tools, and apply economic theory and data in the analysis of the business environment and trends to make effective decisions.

    The Managerial Economics & Business Analysis Graduate Certificate prepares students to effectively manage and operate a business by developing their understanding of the market characteristics and economic environment in which they operate.     BADM 572: Statistics Management Decision Making

    Overview

    This course provides an analytical framework to help you evaluate key problems in a structured fashion and will equip you with tools to better manage the uncertainties that pervade and complicate business processes. Specifically, you will learn how to summarize data and learn concepts of frequency, normal distribution, statistical studies, sampling, and confidence intervals. Additionally, This course aims to cover statistical ideas that apply to managers by discussing two basic themes: first, is recognizing and describing variations present in everything around us, and then modeling and making decisions in the presence of these variations.

    FIN 571: Money and Banking

    Overview

    This course will provide you with a basic understanding of the connections between money, the financial system, and the broader macroeconomy. It will also provide you with an understanding of central bank policies and how such policies affect financial markets and the economy. You will gain insights about the macroeconomic relationships between interest rates, inflation, and unemployment that allow you to assess central bank actions and appreciate how this action will affect the economy.

    Overview

    Microeconomics for professional business students. Shows relevance of value and distribution theories for business managers. Includes demand and supply theory, consumer choice, production and cost theory, industrial structure, and capital theory.

    Yes, these graduate level courses are composed of MOOC components (hosted on the Coursera platform) paired with a high engagement component (hosted on the University of Illinois Canvas platform). Together, the two components earn you credit hours through the University of Illinois. MOOC components do not carry credit independently.‎

    Access to for-credit course materials will be made available based on standard course launch and delivery timelines.‎

    To apply for a graduate certificate program, you'll need to start an online application through the University of Illinois Graduate College.

    The following items are required for your application:

    • Bachelor’s degree: Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
    • Professional resume: This should include personal information (name, address, telephone number, and email address), educational background, work experience (start and end dates for each position and a brief description of responsibilities), educational training, professional associations, and leadership experiences. Please limit your resume to two pages.
    • Brief personal statement: A 500-word or less statement describing your interest in the certificate program.
    • English proficiency scores (international students only): If you are a non-native English speaker, you will need to upload your TOEFL or IELTS scores directly to your application. Review the Graduate College’s English proficiency requirements for more details on possible exemptions.‎
