I have got a clear understanding of the five TCP/IP network model on each layer and its difference with OSI mode, including how to setup the networking cables, the connectors that connects the devices together on the network model with the concept of Duplex communication and simplex communication.

I can be able to identify other computers using their MAC addresses and the various components that make up an ethernet frame.

I can describe the technology that allow data to pass across many networks and facilitating communications over great distances, the binary math on IP address and how sub netting works.

I have got a clear understanding on how internet works using routing protocols and the concept of computer networking on how individual nodes on a network can communicate with other nodes with concept of TCP and UDP.

I am missing the time and words to truly describe how helpful each and every module has been for me thus far...In getting to know information technology as such through each step I have been enabled to take through this wonderful short Google course. Even though I am half way through it, I am finding it to be the most comparable, inexpensive, yet totally appropriate, entry-level course for the intended purposes, i.e., to get introduced to the world of information technology.

I have to admit, though, that without my prior understanding of basic IT, my daily drive to want to know more about IT, would have made things a little bit different. As such, some folks out there might be uncomfortable with the learning content. In any case, it might serve as a turning or U-turn point for many..

He left NO Stone Un-Turned. Amazingly, yet very tough material, and; borders on 'The Calculus of Telecommunications,' he had simple and good illustrations. Superb Slides, Notes, Summaries, images, Circuit Layouts. Free Bonus; he gives you the full Glossary List of all (Terms) Acronyms, and the meanings. That's the 300 Acronym List we must memorize, to Pass Certification Exams like: CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+. Five routers walk into a Bar. Who gets to hold the car keys ? The Designated Router . . . Victor is among other illustrious patriots like Paul Revere, who said: "1 IF by LAN; two IF by C." He broke the complex Theory down into BYTE Size Pieces. If I should fail, quit, give up, dedicate to other,... it will definitely not be because of this great course, so far I can tell & see, but still I'm on, 3 more to go so remains to be seen. To all those considering this course: If you really want to get an overview, understand the connections,.. & more, this is definitely a superb one to start with. IPv6 Tunneling through IPv4 was a new concept for me. I really enjoyed how the concept was explained and the accompanying illustrations. This week was awesome but I would have to back to Week 2 as I am yet to grasp the concept of IPv6 routing and subnetting. The routing Path and Subnetting assignment is kicked my butt. I guess I have to go over week 2 again as long as I have access to the material.

I am excited about my progress and I plan to continue through this certificate path. I want to send out words of encouragement to anyone who is struggling with a concept or two. Take your time, go back through the lesson a couple more time and you will get it. I am rooting for you!

I very much disliked that course. It was very difficult and made me rethink a lot of things regarding the certificate, but I decided to stick it out and I am glad I did. Google and Coursera did a great job presenting the information. The information is super technical and for a person nearing the winter of their life it can be challenging to pick up so much technical information. The theory behind it was helpful, and I recommend it to anybody that is planning on complementing this with the CompTIA A+ certification. I made the mistake of trying to study for both and in the end had to pick up the lighter stone and build up my strength for what lies ahead.

Wow, I did it. And let me be honest with my review if somebody really cares. The Bits and Bytes part of this course is really tough, at least for me. It was tough to digest all the techie words, and it's really the tech words that make you feel like you aren't learning many things, otherwise, you are almost successful. And the fun fact that it's all theory with nearly zero eye-catching video or image material, you won't swallow it as a cake can't be swallowed. I don't know but if in future this is going to be my favourite subject, I will have to drag my feet every day towards that job or not until I've learned a lot of those.

I have always studied computer networking and read wide and large. However, none of the courses I have taken before, or content I have read before, have given me the in-deph understanding that I have gained taking this course. I loved the challenges which provided a way for me to reiterate what I have just learnt, and increase my understanding of the concepts. The instructor was very clear in his explanations. The interview roleplay at the end was also quite insightful - I got to act as the interviewee and I was glad that my thought process was same as what was actually expected.
