About the Course

Development and Evaluation allows you to build on your knowledge of how people learn and use your understanding of learning design frameworks to bring your own learning designs to life! As you conceptualize assessment as a communication tool, you’ll consider the role of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments. Look at different assessment formats and how learners can use them to show what they know. Using ideas from cognitive science and multimedia theories, explore how to create engaging and effective content for learners. Most importantly, you’ll think about evaluation approaches to understand the efficacy of your designs for learning, including formative, summative, and confirmative. This course includes an immersive activity to give you a taste of what it is like to independently meet with and consult for project stakeholders. At the conclusion of the course and the series, you’ll turn your attention again to cultivating your identity as a learning experience designer and consider how you can showcase your skills through a learning experience design professional portfolio....

Pro: Not many mandatory written assignments, only one for each course. The quizzes are very easy and there are no (or almost no) multiple choice questions. The videos are short and there are AI tools below to help summarize the content of the video, which saves time. I also like that these courses include interviews with LXD experts. Overall, the course is very organized and is a good introduction of LXD design. Con: I expected more for the immersive LXD group meeting. Also, I think the expectations for the assignment in the second and third course were a little bit ambiguous. I hope the course designers could give a sample answer or briefly explain the requirements. For example, for the second course, we are requested to write about an experience, but what kind of experience? Is it the experience of LXD design or learning? And for the third course, what kind of artifact should we share? Should we share a finished project, a draft, or the design process? I hope there are more specific descriptions.

The content was very comprehensive. I learned great concepts to apply to my career and know more about the LXD core competencies.

The mix of simple and complex tasks made it engaging and thought-provoking. The use of VR was refreshing and eye-opening.
