I love the courses and I'm learning a lot. I do very well on the practical exams but the labs seem to be a problem. not that I can't do the work but the external tool that was used QWIK LABS caused me so much grief and headaches. the interface alway kicked me out of the lab or I would get stuck in a terminal and couldn't exit. for example the last two exams for this course I was almost done with the windows portion and I get stuck terminal and couldn't do anything causing me not to do the last question in the lab. which gave me a 80. I would have got a 100 just because of the qwik lab issues

second the linux lab had same issue gave up the first day could only do half the lab. went back redid the lab and got 100 percent after reloading the lab several times. I strive on doing well and exceeding expectations of my peers but the labs caused me to be frustrated at the way there utilized. I use a Mac computer and it was very difficult to navigate between the labs windows and back to my browser to follow the instructions.

I wrote more in depth comments after each week of the course.

In general I liked the course as well as the instructor. I gathered some useful information about IT and Operating Systems. However, I think the course could have be much more effective if

A) you used another learning strategy. Instead of having learners basically repeat precise instructions for five weeks and then, all of a sudden, give them tasks where they have to do things autonomously, why noted it gradually, a little bit each time?

B) you provided more opportunities to try out things and code along. It is a pity that I (as on owner of a Mac) learned only in week 5 that there would have been the possibility to use virtual box to vm windows on my computer or to install CLI on it.

What I like about this course and in general about all the Google Coursera courses I have taken so far is that the teacher are really engaged, very passionate about their topic and really knowledgable

If the labs weren't punishing me for having a 2ms ping and 1gb connection. I'd rate it higher i spent 2 hrs troubleshooting a lab issue to finally realize that "Qwiklabs" for some reason is not efficiently receiving my inputs in the labs. I'd complete a task/lab and click on the link to check my work and it'll say it's not completed. I'd double check, triple check to no avail. Then whenever i contact support via chat. I got back and check it it completes. This is poor service from Qwiklabs. I shouldn't be punished for having a very fast connection.

Good course, one must be willing to dig in much deeper on the subjects as they are discussed very briefly.

The instructions for the labs "Updating VLC...Windows" did not show the correct line breaks.

There were a lot of errors - missing info in readings, and incorrect subtitles which made it hard to understand because sometimes Cindy's pronounciation was a bit unclear. I don't retain information well from videos (I found these ones especially wordy and hard to take notes from) so I really relied on the subtitles and they often let me down.

If I had known the course would be largely video-based I don't think I would have signed up. If you're someone like me that needs concepts laid out visually to better understand them you are out of luck.

One suggestion I have is to have a digital textbook as a resource to accompany the course, to outline the basic concepts. I feel like this would have really helped me and would go far to help others in future.

This needs to be arranged in a better way. My notes are so scattershot that it will be impossible to reference them for anything but this specific course without significant rewriting; this is primarily due to the course being arranged in an alternating windows/linux/windows/linux format. Aside from that, the information is good, the labs are interesting and well put together by and large. If we're learning this stuff to take it forward with us into a successful career, having straight-forward notes in a more sensible arrangement than provided here would go a long way in providing for the possibility that I keep them, use them, and have fond memories of taking this class while I do.

I felt the videos and the content of the course too overwhelming for a beginner, compared to the networking module. Although the instructor kept the videos short the overall comprehension of a particular subject was totally ignored. At times it was too confusing constantly switching between the windows and linux environment. This module needs a serious reconsideration in the layout of delivering for a beginner like me. Instead of of switching between the 2 operating systems, the instructor could just teach one OS at a time for better footing of the foundations of the subject.

There was a lot of information in this course that wasn't fully explained very well, such as rules of using the CLI in Windows and/or Linux. What order to put things in would have been nice as well as a deeper dive into what each command does and a provided command reference sheet, much like the Glossary that is provided. This course left A LOT to be desired. While it is easy to simply "pass" the course, actually LEARNING the material required me to do a lot of my own research.

A lot of the labs do not work as advertised. Especially the very last one. You need to go through and correct them. I had to put in a support ticket on half the labs I tried to complete.

Sorry but my eyes hurt when trying to complete this course. The course is plain and easy to understand as it barely touch the surface of everyday job requirements for an IT support.

Who in the world now still don't know how to create a file and need your help? I mean seriously. Maybe if their digital literacy that bad, they are not even employed in the very beginning so helpdesk wouldn't need to resolve such tickets from them.

Do you believe that I only spend 4 hours to complete Course 1 and 2? Not that much talent, only with Google to figure out the answer. The course doesn't sophisticated thinking after, only basic definition you could find anywhere online. Labs are worse. Windows simulation is slow, and Linux is basically copy and paste exercise. Sorry, but I don't want to waste any time here any longer.

This course was too in-depth to be for beginners. All of the videos contained too many new concepts and didn't give the viewer any time to become familiar with it before moving on to the next one. The fact that you have to learn how to navigate the windows OS and Linux OS simultaneously only makes the course even less learner friendly.

Didn't enjoy this course, instead of being taught, this was just being talked at. Have just finished and have forgotten most of it already. Jumping between Windows and Linux every other video made it difficult to follow or stay engaged with.

Way too deep in the weeds, focusing more on memorizing step by step "how to's" as opposed to more broad overarching key concepts.

Filled with flaws and really badly structured. Why would you not have a separate course for Linux and Windows?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I enrolled in the Google IT Support Professional Certificate on Coursera to enhance my skills in IT, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The course content is comprehensive and well-structured, covering everything from troubleshooting to networking essentials. One of the best aspects of this course is its practical approach. The hands-on labs and assignments were incredibly valuable, allowing me to apply what I learned in real-world scenarios. The interactive nature of the course kept me engaged throughout, and the instructors were knowledgeable and supportive. Moreover, the flexibility of Coursera's platform meant I could study at my own pace, which was perfect for balancing learning with my other commitments. The quizzes and assessments were challenging yet fair, ensuring I grasped each concept thoroughly before moving on. By the end of the course, I felt confident in my ability to handle various IT issues and had a solid understanding of IT fundamentals. This certificate has already opened doors for me in my career, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to break into the IT field or advance their existing skills. Hands down… One of the most interesting courses I have ever taken! One of the things that piqued my interest in learning more about computers was when I learned how to use hotkeys to create custom commands within an application that I had been using for some time and began using at a higher level once I understood how to use those hotkeys. After this course, I now understand how to use something somewhat different but even stronger… Command line interface. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that I could learn how to use this on any operating system, nevermind learning it on two different operating systems - Windows & Linux. For me, this course was also one of the most difficult and intense courses that I ever taken, and appropriately so. With that, I am so glad that I enrolled in this certificate program and I can't wait to learn more in the next two courses. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience!
